Migraine
Did you know? 1 in 7 people and up to 1 in 10 children suffer migraine and other primary headaches. (1)
Migraine accounts for 89% of headaches experienced worldwide(2a) and affects three times as many women as men(2b).
Migraine is the most common neurological condition in the developed world. The World Health Organization ranks migraine as the second-highest cause of disability in the world, following lower back pain. (3)
There is no one single migraine trigger that affects everyone, and often several triggers happen at one time to bring on a migraine. Reported triggers from migraine sufferers include-
· Certain foods
· Missing a meal
· Dehydration
· Alcohol
· Caffeine
· Stress
· Weather
· Hormones
· Neck and back pain. (4)
Joint and muscle issues can be a trigger, for example, arising from poor posture, sitting in front of a computer, or driving a car.
What is recommended?
Chiropractic has been shown to help in the prevention of migraines by addressing triggers from joint and muscle issues in the neck and upper back.
Of course, this is one of several triggers, some of which can be very difficult to manage. But any improvement can be a huge relief to those who suffer with migraines on a regular basis.
